Warranty Extensions

All OLIS clients are encouraged to keep their instruments under warranty for immediacy of support and repairs and (frankly) for our fiscal stability. Our full staff is available to every user of all OLIS equipment for free under the first year warranty. Your need for support will not end at that point, and our need for your assistance in covering the costs of top quality support personnel, immediate repair/ replacement hardware, and software updates does not end either. By honoring our request for an annual warranty extension at less than 5 % of the original purchase price of each OLIS product, we both win. Thank you for helping us offset the price of keeping top tier support staff in place for your use. Request a price quotation for a single or multiple year warranty extension here. The Olis S-16 Conversion

Procedures for upgrading to the S-16 ScanDisk

The latest improvement to the Olis RSM 1000 is the Olis S-16 ScanDisk. The original spinning ScanDisk uses a single synchronization pulse per revolution of the disk to adjust for wheel speed variations. The S-16 ScanDisk obtains a sync pulse at each slit, dramatically decreasing wheel speed variations and sinewave noise during data collection. Since each slit produces its own sync pulse, the correction for wheel speed variations occurs 16 times per revolution of the ScanDisk. The S-16 ScanDisk provides four-fold better wavelength accuracy during rapid-scanning.

For each original RSM system, the conversion will require modification of the ScanDisk, monochromator card assembly, internal monochromator cable, and control boxes. All cables connecting the computer to the control box and the control box to the RSM will be inspected, tested, and labeled to correspond to the S-16 control box.

Overview

The upgrade process can occur in one of two ways. For RSM owners who feel comfortable getting inside the RSM to remove the internal components required for conversion, we provide illustrated instructions for removing the original components and installing the upgraded components. RSM owners who do not feel comfortable removing internal components will need to remove only the external components required for conversion; Olis will modify the external components and then come to your lab to install the upgraded external components and upgrade the internal components. In either case, the upgrade process will require at least two weeks after receipt of your original components (either external only or both internal and external). For conversions involving on-site procedures, an Olis technician will call to schedule a site visit at your earliest convenience after the internal components have been received and upgraded at our facility.
