- First you must remove the standard sample chamber. If you have an absorbance/fluorescence RSM, the Olis single-grating monochromator located directly behind the sample chamber does NOT need to be removed in order to install the CD module.
- Detach PMT cables. Remove PMTs and place them in the Olis PMT storage bag.
- Remove the four screws underneath the sample chamber.
- Gently slide the sample chamber off of the lens tube of the RSM. If the Olis single-grating monochromator is part of your system, you will also need to slide the sample chamber off of the lens tube of the single-grating monochromator, as shown in the inset.
- If the Olis single-grating monochromator is part of your system, you will need to remove the lens tube. Grasp the tube and gently pull it off just below the lens tube collar.

- Loosen, but do not remove, the three screws in the collar around the RSM lens tube using the 0.05 Allen wrench in the Olis tool kit.
- Remove the RSM lens tube.
- Insert the CD lens assembly. Using the 0.05 Allen wrench, tighten the three screws in the RSM lens tube collar just enough to hold the CD lens assembly in place. Do not tighten the screws completely.
- If you have the Olis stopped-flow optical railing, you will need to remove the two set screws that secure the optical railing to the stopped-flow legs before installing the CD module.
- Set the Olis CD module on the optical railing but do not bump it against the CD lens tube; leave a space between the CD module and the lens tube, as shown in the inset.
- Notice that the polarizer is located at the lens port of the CD module. It is extremely important that you do not break the polarizer when you slide the CD lens tube into the CD module. If you left the three screws in the RSM lens tube collar loose, as recommended in step #8, you can adjust the position of the CD lens tube slightly (see inset) to facilitate the coupling of the CD lens tube and the CD module.
- Once the CD lens tube is properly inserted into the lens port of the CD module, gently slide the CD module left (towards the RSM) until the base of the CD module is flush with the side of the RSM and the front edge of the CD module is flush with the front of the optical railing.
- Reattach the four screws that secure the CD module to the optical railing (these were removed in step #3) but do not tighten yet. You may have to shift the module slightly to get all four screws to fit. Once all four screws are properly inserted, tighten the screws.
- Tighten the three screws in the RSM lens tube collar.
